Mengi yay 55
2019
Introducing the second conceptual proposal for the Mengi Yay 50-meter superyacht project, developed in 2019 for the same discerning client. Tasked with the identical and stringent engineering challenge of keeping the massive vessel under the 500 gross ton (GT) regulatory limit, I approached this alternative design from a distinctly different architectural angle. As a Yacht exterior designer, I pivoted from the fluid lines of the first concept to a more muscular, faceted geometry highlighted by a striking silver-grey metallic finish. A defining feature of this iteration is the elevated aft deck pool, which serves as a dramatic focal point while intelligently maximizing the volume of the beach club directly below it. Dominated by angular, structural glass panels that seamlessly integrate the interior with the ocean, this second proposal demonstrates that rigid volumetric constraints can be manipulated to create a highly aggressive, commanding maritime presence.
